Inspiring authentic and lasting change.

We often slip back into old patterns of relating; simply because the changes have been superficial. My career as a psychotherapist began with a focus on sickness or psychopathology and how to ease a client's suffering. I was taught to illustrate treatment effectiveness by measuring a reduction of symptoms. While this may seem to be reasonable, we must look deeper and treat the person rather than the problem. A significant number of children and adults in the mental health system are prescribed psychiatric medication to control their symptoms. With this treatment foundation, it is challenging to understand what the person is communicating with their behavior. When we don't truly hear each other, our being is dulled, purpose is lost, and soul is repressed.

This has significant implications for children, adults, and the world.

Tara sees symptoms as a sign that something greater is trying to emerge. In the process of realizing our greatness, the symptoms take care of themselves. We can look at symptoms as a spiritual crisis, and ask ourselves what are we being called to do

Counselor

Tara has found and research has indicated that the relationship between the counselor and individual(s) is the greatest indicator of sucess in lasting change. Tara offer's an honest, open, and compassionate space where people can begin to let go of their defenses and listen to their inner voice. There is a natural intelligence that is awakened when we find stillness within, even if for a few moments. No matter what the situation, when we attend to something in stillness , we can awaken that something. Tara focuses on establishing discernment rather than engaging in analytical discussion; ultimately making space for lasting insight and wisdom,

Coach
Tara believes our bodies are the home for the soul. Tara is a health and yoga coach. She supports others in their practice of joining their mind and body and opening to spirit via the path of yoga and healthy eating. Another word for yoga is yoke or to join with. As the mind and body join, stillness and peace can be experienced. As we progress in our practice, we become accustomed to the peace and stillness within. We experience a different relationship with self and begin to take it out in the world and have new experiences. When our body's can sustain peace, we handle stress better and our health and physical performance improves, as does our relationships with others.

Consultant

Tara consults with parents on child and teen development and behavorial symptoms. She has found that successful work with children and families involves treating parents as the experts. She supports parents with trusting their intuition about their child's emotions and behavior. Parents gain confidence to address their child's symptoms and guide their children with creating and maintaining positive and effective relationships.
